SECURITY & PROTECTION

The Saudi American Glass range of Laminated Glasses provide Protection and Security in many ways. Resistance to manual attacks from bandits and vandals, safety from accidental explosions and bomb blasts , resistance to threats from many weapons fired by both robbers and terrorists , and protection from unwanted noise for hotel guests , airport passengers, and many others. The composition of the laminated glass determines the level of safety provided. Given Saudi Arabia’s hot climatic conditions, the radiant heat directly from the Sun and the Conducted and Convected heat from the Air must be controlled or it may pass through the Glazed Facades and put excessive pressures on Air Conditioning Systems. Saudi American Glass have developed a wide range of K-Lite Solar Control and Low Emissivity Glasses specifically designed to offer this control.

Saudi American Glass Company Bullet Resistant Glass
Bullet-resistant glass is constructed using layers of laminated glass. The more layers there are, the more protection the glass offers. When a weight reduction is needed 3mm of polycarbonate (a thermoplastic) is laminated onto the safe side to stop spall. The aim is to make a material with the appearance and clarity of standard glass but with effective protection from small arms. Polycarbonate designs usually consist of products such as Armormax, Makroclear, Cyrolon: a soft coating that heals after being scratched (such as elastomeric carbon-based polymers) or a hard coating that prevents scratching (such as silicon-based polymers).

Anti Bandit Glass
Anti-Bandit Glass is a laminated glass made up of two annealed glass sheets bonded together by 1.5mm thick plastic interlayer, and is tested to BS5544. It is a security glass designed to resist manual attack and to delay access to a protected space for a short period of time. The increased effort and time required to develop an opening in the laminate serves to dissuade and thwart would-be intruders or burglars. It is ideal in situations where the noise generated by the attack alerts neighbours or inhabitants.

Blast Resistant Glass
Blast-resistant glass is based on an ideal combination of the rigidity and compressive strength of glass with the plasticity and energy-absorbing properties of polymer interlayers, such as PVB. The classification ER1 to ER4 depends on the corresponding amount of TNT that is simulated in a controlled shock-tube test mechanism, penetrating the glass by the pressure of a real-life explosion. The glass should remain in the test frame to prevent glass from becoming a weapon and harming people on the safe side.

Acoustic Insulation

Acoustic insulation can be an excellent option if you have a home office and you need to enhance comfort and minimize noise to avoid distractions and enhance productivity. Acoustic insulation can be offered not just on the floors or adjoining walls but also on the pipes. It’s simply done by retrofitting the existing pipes with an insulating material.
