Glass is the ideal material to use in order to clad the facades of buildings. It allows natural daylighting to pass in and enables occupants to get clear, unimpeded, vision out. However, unless it is properly controlled it is not an effective barrier to the passage of both heat and cold.

Given Saudi Arabia’s hot climatic conditions, the radiant heat directly from the sun and the conducted and convected heat from the air must be controlled or it may pass through the glazed facades and put excessive pressures on air conditioning systems.
